The extraordinary power of Gratitude

From the plethora of mindset tools in the Emotional Intelligence Course, Gratitude is the one that brings about the biggest mental shift without the least effort.

Have you ever tried for a committed time to keep a Grateful journal? It’s not just about saying thank you for a select few, key, repetitive items we see as vital. It is about looking at each day and writing down 5 things specific to that day only, that you are grateful for.

It can look something like this: 1. Today I am thankful for the modern miracle, which is my bathroom, no king or queen of 100+ years ago enjoyed the pleasure of everything it has to offer me so seamlessly on a daily basis; I loved every second of the bath/shower I took today and the relaxation it offered me, 2. The conversation I had today with X friend really made me think and understand a certain topic better, 3. We had a quick braai after work & I had one of the best fillet-on-the-bone steaks I’ve had in a long time, 4. Thank you that I had the money to pay my bills today, 5. I got a warm hug & kiss from my partner before work this morning, I am thankful for the partner that I have …

What’s good about this, is that it focusses on identifying something different every day. You really start to see that the Universe is abundant. If you cannot be thankful for what you have today, you’ll never have enough.

If the Universe is made up of sound, frequency, vibration, and energy, then the energy signature of gratitude is so powerful it impacts you on a cellular level. Try to focus on just how much you have instead of what is lacking and start to see your mood, attitude and perspective completely transform.

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others - Marcus Cicero
