Self-Worth and "disappearing" in relationships with others

Erosion is an important word on the topic of self-worth.

Do you find yourself eroding away in your relationships with other people? Erosion in this context means that we lose ourselves, we essentially morph into the other person, our opinions slowly but surely get replaced by the preferences, likes & dislikes of others. We are easily bent to their will and only once enough time has passed, and we are completely depleted, are we forced to stop and take stock of how we have come to lose ourselves in the name of a relationship with another.

Only when we recognize this repetitive pattern can we change it. Realize how important it is to take your time, to not force yourself into anything, no matter how much the desire for it is there, or that it feels like second nature to jump in headfirst and hope for the best. It is extremely hard to stop a moving train so do not force yourself and remember, decisions we take lightly turn into months and years of our lives.

Realize that your primary source of safety and security needs to come from within.
