Self-Awareness alone is curative

This was an explosively powerful sentence for me when I came across it many years ago. It is something I remind myself of every day. Very often nothing else needs to be done, other than shine a gentle light on the truth within ourselves, a part of us that clearly requires some loving attention. The light (attention) itself shows us so much of what we need to know and understand, the insight resonates with us, and change can take place.
Eckhart Tolle refers to self-awareness as the silent watcher, the observer of the mind. The silent watcher does not judge, shame, blame, label, guilt or reprimand, it just observes. Honing the skill of being able to observe our mind, thoughts and behaviours without judgement helps us to identify the repetitive patterns we hold, the limiting beliefs, the oh so powerful urge to recreate the familiar, no matter how bad the results has proven to be in the past.
Self-awareness is about the journey inwards, a little less surface reality and a little more putting on your proverbial backpack and travelling inwards to start to discover the endless space within.

Next up we’ll blend another mindset tool, within the Emotional Intelligence course, called Sore Points & Stress Triggers with self-awareness. It is ultimately at these moments, when we get triggered that much of what we’ve learned under the umbrella of self-development flies out the window and we need self-awareness most.
The world is a mess, the answer is not to get out, but to go inwards.
